An unforgettable experience

Join the Lion Feeding Tour

Watch our rescued big cats receive their meals from their dedicated caretakers right from the comfort of a game viewer, while our guides share the inspiring stories behind each animal.

Before breakfast, we accompany our caretaker team on the game viewer to the entrance gate of The Lions Foundation. From there, we follow the caretakers’ vehicle as they visit each enclosure to deliver food to the big cats. During the tour, your guide will share insights about the mission of The Lions Foundation and tell the remarkable stories of each lion. After feeding time, you’ll also witness the special moment when they return to their spacious enclosures. Some of the lions playfully make their way back, which is a truly heartwarming sight to behold.

Many of these animals have endured difficult pasts — born in captivity, forced to perform in circuses, or rescued from conflict zones. Thanks to our sister organization, Stichting Leeuw in the Netherlands, these lions have been saved and relocated to The Lions Foundation in South Africa, where they can finally live in peace within their natural habitat. By joining the Lion Feeding Tour, you directly support the ongoing care and welfare of these beautiful animals.

Guests can book this memorable experience by emailing info@schrikkloof.com.  If you stay two nights or more at Schrikkloof, the Lion Feeding Tour is included in your booking. You can also book the tour via this website, if you enter the booking system.

Please note: that the lions at The Lions Foundation are potentially dangerous and are more or less traumatised. We will ask you to adhere to the rules that we will explain to you, and to sign a special waiver.
